The challenge
Communication across 13 partner institutions involved different teams, processes and working cultures. Treating the problem as a software purchase risked introducing another tool without resolving how information should be governed, maintained and shared.
UHI needed a common understanding of the problem and a defensible specification for what should come next.
The approach
Curio engaged stakeholders through workshops, interviews and a partnership-wide survey. The research examined not only desired features but also content ownership, governance, internal skills and the behaviours required for shared working.
The intranet was treated as one component of organisational change rather than the project endpoint.
What Curio delivered
- Stakeholder workshops and interviews
- A survey across the UHI partnership
- User and organisational requirements
- Governance recommendations
- Content-management recommendations
- Skills and capability considerations
- Guidance for developing a more shared working culture
- A requirements specification to inform subsequent decisions
The result
UHI received an evidence-led basis for deciding how a shared intranet should work and what organisational conditions were required for it to succeed.
