UNE's long history in distance education created a large and varied digital portfolio. The University needed a consistent way to evaluate quality, prioritise work and support academic teams across thousands of units.
A one-off redesign of selected flagship courses wouldn't create the method, workflow or internal capability required for portfolio-wide improvement.
Curio and UNE co-designed an evaluation framework combining recognised benchmarks with context-specific categories. Pilot units tested the approach before sprint-based evaluation expanded.
Discipline-matched learning designers reviewed units, interviewed coordinators and created work plans separating mandatory threshold corrections from meaningful enhancements. An integrated program environment brought workflow, documents, communication and reporting together.
Across two phases, more than 600 units received structured evaluation and work plans. UNE also gained a repeatable quality framework, integrated program controls and internal capability to continue the work beyond Curio's direct involvement.
