A feasibility study for a digital film school at St Andrew's College

The challenge

An alumnus proposed a digital film school involving St Andrew's College, university partners and industry brands. The concept was ambitious, but enthusiasm couldn't answer whether the model aligned with the College's purpose, met a genuine market need or represented a viable investment.

The Council needed an independent assessment that could support a decision, not a proposal designed to justify a predetermined outcome.

The approach

Curio examined the opportunity from several perspectives: alignment with the College's mission and values, demand and industry context, stakeholder interest, possible partnerships, commercial logic and likely financial performance.

Stakeholders across education, industry and government informed the assessment.

What Curio delivered

  • Strategic alignment analysis
  • Education, industry and government stakeholder engagement
  • Research into the Australian film and education markets
  • Commercial-model analysis
  • Financial modelling of likely returns
  • Risks, dependencies and implementation considerations
  • A feasibility report designed for Council decision-making

The result

The Council received sufficient evidence to make an informed decision about the proposal. The value of the engagement wasn't whether the answer was automatically yes, but whether leaders could choose with a clearer view of the opportunity, cost and risk.
