Innovating legal education for RMIT Online

Written by Curio Group | Aug 10, 2026, 9:00:00 AM

The challenge

The new graduate certificate needed to explore legal innovation, data privacy and emerging technology governance through the learning experience itself. Moving existing law content online without rethinking its structure would have produced a digital version of a traditional course rather than an offering suited to the subject and audience.

The approach

Curio co-designed the transformation of three existing courses with RMIT Online and relevant subject-matter experts. Technology and innovation became the organising thread for the program rather than an additional topic attached to otherwise conventional course structures.

The work drew on Curio's broader relationship with RMIT Online while responding to the particular demands of legal education.

What Curio delivered

  • Redesign of three existing law courses for online delivery
  • A coherent experience across the new graduate certificate
  • Learning focused on legal innovation, data privacy and technology governance
  • Collaboration with academic and subject-matter experts
  • Online structures and activities appropriate to postgraduate learners

The result

Reported student satisfaction across the redesigned courses reached between 80 and 90 per cent, a specific signal that the new online experience was resonating with learners.
